A lifelong storyteller with a passion for weaving imagination, emotion, and intrigue into unforgettable tales, M.A. Christensen aka Marilyn Ann Christensen, has been writing since the age of ten, when poetry first opened the door to a world of creative expression.
What began with poems and poetry gradually blossomed into songwriting, screenwriting, and novel writing. A songwriter at heart and a novelist by passion, M.A. Christensen draws inspiration from the many ways stories can touch the human spirit, spark curiosity, and transport readers to another time and place.
With a love for historical fiction, romance, mystery, and intrigue, M.A. Christensen enjoys crafting stories filled with compelling characters, unexpected revelations, and sudden twists and turns that keep readers turning pages. Whether exploring the complexities of love, the secrets hidden within history, or the mysteries that unfold when least expected, each story offers an opportunity to step into another world where nothing is always as it seems.
In addition to writing novels and songs, M.A. Christensen has created and written screenplays for children's Christmas theatrical productions, bringing the magic of the holiday season to life through storytelling and performance.
In 2026, M.A. Christensen received Songtown Nashville songwriter recognition, marking a meaningful milestone in a continuing creative journey. Attending songwriter and book-writing conferences provides opportunities to learn, grow, connect with fellow writers, and continue exploring the art of storytelling.
From the first poem written at age ten to the songs, scripts, and novels created today, one thing remains constant: a love for words and the endless possibilities they hold.
Every story has a secret. Every heart has a story. And sometimes, the most unexpected twist is just the beginning.
POETRY

Somewhere outside
Somewhere beyond the window pane
Lies a world of unknown possibilities
Waiting for someone to open the window
To reach out and touch the unknown
And turn it into the known
World of possibilities …..

MY BLOG
Where HER story began… or should I say my story…
My Mom and I in my younger years…
Every story has a beginning…
Is it any wonder that I was destined to be an author and a musician when I was raised like this with my Mom, Evelyn Christensen in this photo.
I love that I am holding a book albeit upside down (which might explain a few things… lol). I am sure that is where my storytelling began at such a young age before I could even read.
Music filled the house that I grew up in on the prairies near Edgerton, Alberta, Canada. Our small rural town was so small that if anyone went missing you could always find them at the neighbors house. It was a beautiful way to grow up with everyone knew everyone and cared about one another and still to this day. Proud to be from Edgerton, Alberta, Canada.
Some of my fondest memories were of Mom playing music in the house and her laughter ringing down the hallways. My Dad, Jim Christensen was also a great singer with a deep masculine voice and the only thing he could play was the radio. lol. I recall when Mom and Dad would take us on road trips in the car and us kids would start fighting and the next thing you know we were forced to sing songs and this one was one of Dad’s favorites.
“Well it’s round up time in Texas and the boom is on the sage. How I long to be in Texas out a riding on the range”
Fun fact: Who knew that years later, this song may have been the reason I flew to Huntsville, Texas by myself and obtained my undergraduate degree at Sam Houston State University.
Mom would always welcome anyone and everyone that would come to the door and they always left with something in their hands, like freshly baked goods or a little gift. They always left with love in their hearts and music in their soul which has been instilled in our families to this day.
I started writing at the young age of 12 years inspired by my Grade school teacher, Mrs. Anne Rae, who was firm but fair. Her teaching methods were inspirational and she opened the door for you to do your best.
As a young child and into my teenage years, I would find myself with a pen and paper under the big poplar trees in the front yard of our farmhouse writing poems and prose. It was a way for me to voice my emotions easily and without judgement.
I can still smell the fallen leaves as the last harvest sun beams warmed the chilled crisp air.
And so her stories begin…
What PEOPLE are Saying…
" The Queen’s Pawns! I am so very proud of you and your accomplishments and I just finished your book and I loved it. And I truly dislike Queen Alessandra. It was such a good read and I am recommending it to my mother in law and daughter in law to read."
K. Melvin, Avid Book reader, Alberta, Canada
"Just finished your book! I have marked many lines to use one day… “her veins were filled with narcissism, ready to engage at any moment” “chess is a game where even the most seemingly insignificant player can take the crown…” to an incredibly talented friend!"
Kevin N, Avid Book reader, British Columbia, Canada
